Are you passionate about Pittsburgh? Then share your story: #Passion4PGH

So, this Friday is what some may consider to be “Black Friday.” Only this isn’t November and we are more likely to see advertisements with cupids, arrows and chocolate than televisions, iPhones and video games. Yes, it’s that dreaded month of February — when the weather is atrocious and in this incredibly horrible winter, Valentine’s Day looms as a dark cloud over our heads.

It’s not just the weather: if we have a significant other, it means we have to spend time coming up with clever expressions of love, if you believe all the over-the-top advertising and marketing for the holiday. And if we don’t have a significant other, well, it’s even worse.

So we WordWriters, have decided to turn this negativity around — because who needs more doom and gloom this month?

Let’s refocus and look to something extra positive — this Valentine’s season, let’s “redd up” this holiday (get it?) by pouring out our feelings for something we are all passionate about — PITTSBURGH. We’re talking about our hometown, our place of work, where we do business, where our friends live, where we see dreams happen and the place we believe to be so special that no other city quite compares. It doesn’t matter if you were born here or moved here, if you live here now or wish you did — the point is, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.

We’re not trying to change the world here. And we’re not looking to remake the holiday. We do want to see just how passionate all our families, friends and neighbors are about this town. Tell us why you are passionate about Pittsburgh. What makes your heart skip a beat? Why do you absolutely love this place surrounded by three rivers?

Over the next several weeks, we encourage EVERYONE to share their story about Pittsburgh using the hashtag: #Passion4PGH. We hope by focusing on something that makes us all happy, we can bring some sunshine and warmth to this otherwise dreary winter.

Share your story about why you are passionate about Pittsburgh via YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, mail, email — even in the comments below. Use whatever platform you wish. Just be sure to share it. Don’t hold it in, tell the world using #Passion4Pittsburgh in your story. There is no catch — no $1,000 prize for the best story — just some ‘Burgh love because we just think it’s time to be positive and to let our passion show. What do you think? Will you join us in our effort?

I’ll start…here’s my story about why I am passionate for Pittsburgh. What’s yours?
