With all the tools of our electronic culture, from video chat to Facebook and mobile texts, we are more connected than ever. Yet even in the business of social media and inbound marketing, there’s no replacement for in-person contact. Why is that?
Part of it is probably our biology, part of it is that humans are social creatures. A crucial part of it is still that education, entertainment and dare I say, efficiency, come from meeting face to face with other professionals in real time.

All these reasons factor into the creation of Inbound Pittsburgh, a new local meeting opportunity sponsored by the Pittsburgh HubSpot Users group. The Pittsburgh HUG is one of more than a dozen now operating across the United States.
HubSpot is one of the leading software providers in the exploding field of inbound marketing. As a HubSpot user and a HubSpot agency partner providing inbound marketing services to our clients, WordWrite is proud to co-lead the Pittsburgh HUG. Our group co-leader is a HubSpot user, Brendan Schneider, who is director of admissions at Sewickley Academy, a top-ranked Pittsburgh-area private day school for students from kindergarten through high school.
While Inbound Pittsburgh is sponsored by the Pittsburgh HUG, it’s not just for HubSpot users – it’s for anyone interested in inbound marketing.
Inbound Pittsburgh is open to professionals in the field, whether they work in related fields such as Internet marketing, SEO, social media, public relations or advertising. It’s also a group for those who are marketers or are responsible for marketing in their companies or organizations. And it’s a group for people who are just darn curious about inbound marketing and what it can do to deliver business results.
Our first meeting will be Tuesday, October 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rivers Club in Downtown, Pittsburgh. So why is it worth meeting in person in the Internet age to talk about an Internet-driven marketing field? Here are five reasons:
- The experts will be there! Hubspot is sending a representative to talk about this emerging discipline and their leadership in the field.
- You will meet other marketers. Come to share what’s worked for you and what doesn’t work, and learn more about how others employ inbound marketing.
- You’ll learn A LOT. As I said, you don’t need to be a Hubspot user to join us; in fact, you don’t even need to use inbound marketing for your business! This is a great opportunity to learn more and see if inbound marketing is right for you and your business.
- Get your questions answered. Curious about the hype over inbound marketing? Have a question about a specific tactic? Join us and get some answers. This is your opportunity to explore inbound marketing in a relaxed, informative environment with your peers.
- Free Hubspot goods! Who doesn’t love anything that’s FREE! Hubspot will be bringing swag for all who attend.
If none of those reasons struck your fancy, then join us for free appetizers and refreshments!
You can register for the event on the Inbound Pittsburgh Eventbrite page. To stay up to date on future meet-up dates for the group, join our email list, LinkedIn group and follow PittsburghHUG on Twitter.
