The Pacesetters Awards recognize 13 outstanding business and community leaders who have had a significant impact on the region. These honorees represent innovative leaders whose savvy leadership is setting the pace for the Pittsburgh region.

Zhang, a PhD in sociology, founded KIT Solutions, a Pittsburgh-based provider of real-time, data-driven decision support services for human services organizations, in 1992 and has grown the company to have several federal government contracts as well as state and local agency contracts in 17 states. KIT was ranked the 12th largest minority-owned company in the region in 2009 by the Pittsburgh Business Times.

Dickson became president and CEO of Redstone Highlands, a continuing care retirement community, in 2001, and has since been an essential part of its growth and success. For example, he helped Redstone receive its first CARF/CCAC accreditation— a five-year term of accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities Continuing Care Accreditation Commission. Dickson was also the driving force implementing extensive employee wellness programs and saved an estimated $440,000 in health insurance premiums for employees over the last four years.
