WordWrite Hires First-Ever Virtual Intern

WordWrite Communications, one of Pittsburgh’s fastest-growing public relations agencies, hired Miles Ritenour as the agency’s first-ever virtual intern. As a virtual intern, Ritenour will not only be working alongside the WordWrite staff in the office, but also contributing regularly from out of the office, “virtually.” Ritenour will be tasked with aiding WordWrite and its clients with social media and search engine optimization efforts as well as contributing with traditional PR practices.

“We knew when we met Miles that he would be ideal for this position. He not only has the passion and savvy for public relations, but also understands the new trends in social media,” said Paul Furiga, president and CEO of WordWrite Communications. “That coupled with his drive for success makes him a perfect fit for the virtual internship.”

Ritenour, a native of Latrobe, Pa., is a senior at Point Park University, where he majors in advertising and public relations. During his time at Point Park, he has been an active member of the Student American Advertising Federation and Public Relations Student Society of America groups as well as sports editor for the student newspaper The Globe. Most recently, Ritenour was awarded the Public Relations Society of America / Bob O’Gara Student Scholarship Award.

In addition to the virtual internship at WordWrite, Ritenour is also currently working as a media relations intern with the Pittsburgh Penguins. His past internship experience includes stints with Smith Brothers Agency, LP, The South Side Local Development Company and City of Pittsburgh Ethics Hearing Board.

“I am thrilled to join the team of experienced storytellers at WordWrite,” said Ritenour. “I am excited to apply what I have learned in school, but more importantly about what I can learn from the great real-world experience I will gain through this internship.”
