WordWrite Communications, one of Pittsburgh’s fastest-growing public relations firms, has promoted Deanna Ferrari to senior account executive.

“In the past year, Deanna has proven herself time and again, making her a valuable asset to the WordWrite team,” said WordWrite founder and CEO Paul Furiga. “Her expertise in social media is beneficial to the firm, and she has successfully introduced several of our clients to new and different social channels to better tell their great, untold stories.”

Ferrari played an active role in a campaign with Regency Global Transportation Group during the G-20 Summit. The goal was to keep the media up-to-date on traffic conditions via Twitter during the Summit in September 2009, which resulted in news coverage from KDKA-TV, WPXI-TV and the Associated Press. WordWrite received the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Renaissance Award for Outstanding Social Media Campaign for the work completed during this campaign.

A graduate of Slippery Rock University with a degree in public relations, Ferrari began her PR career as an assistant account executive with MARC USA, an integrated advertising agency in Pittsburgh. She is an active board member of the Pittsburgh chapter of PRSA and currently holds the position of Director-at-Large, Communications. She is also the social media and publicity chair. Most recently, Ferrari implemented the chapter’s first-ever “Social Media Mentions Rewards Program” which encourages members to be active with the chapter in social media by using sites like Twitter, Facebook and location-based platforms to win free attendance to future PRSA events.

“I’m happy to have been promoted. My role at WordWrite has given me the opportunity to be a part of the social media growth for the agency,” Ferrari said. “It has also helped me to refine my media relations skills and grow as a public relations practitioner to better craft great, untold stories for our clients.”
